Dr. Cindy W. Poole, OTD, OTR/L is currently an Assistant Professor and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. She has extensive clinical experience spanning 36 years in multiple practice areas, most notably in hand therapy, private-practice, and school-based pediatrics. She received her bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from the Medical College of Georgia, master’s degree in education from Central Michigan University, and post-professional occupational therapy doctorate from Eastern Kentucky University. Previous research works have evaluated the use of virtual reality as a potential intervention modality for children with sensory processing disorders/ Autism and explored the correlation between dynamic hand strength and hand function in healthy adults. Published research evaluated the use of collaborative parent coaching as an intervention model to improve handwriting in kindergarten students.
